We are a very small, private riding business with, quite literally, "a few good mares".
We are not a dude ranch.
We are not a riding school.
We are not a large riding establishment.
You will not be riding head-to-tail in a long line, walking around the edges of a field with 20 other riders.
Rather, the owner, Carolyn Fisher, will meet you with her truck, trailer and a lovely horse, ready to ride in a destination of your choosing on beautiful Cape Breton Island.
Carolyn moved to Cape Breton from Ontario in July of 2022. In Ontario, Carolyn would frequently load her horses on a trailer and explore the nearby forests and provincial parks, bringing a spare horse for a novice or experienced riding friend looking to enjoy an adventure. Hikers, tourists, cyclists, and families with kids would often stop to pet the horses and ask if Carolyn was running a business, and how they could book a ride. With retirement as an Ontario High School teacher on the horizon, and a move to Cape Breton in the works, an idea was born.
Carolyn has been riding her whole life, and has taught countless young children basic riding skills on her own quiet horses over the years. Whether running a small summer camp on her property, teaching private lessons in her paddocks, or running Equestrian Clubs through her high-school, teaching and riding have been her life's passion.
Now catering mainly to the experienced adult rider looking for a vacation adventure, novices, "rusty riders", occasional riders and family "ride and hike" combos will be sure to find Cape Breton's scenery all the more exhilarating from the back of a Good Mare.
